How It Works

PremierSportsPools.com provides online hosting for your pools.  We offer complete management from setup for commissioners, to roster entry and standings for players. Live scoring is provided for football and golf pools.

Here’s how it works:

Squares Pools

The Game

Squares pools are one of the easiest ways to have fun watching a game. If your name is in a square that corresponds to the score of an assigned winning segment - then you are a winner!  In a typical squares pool there is a winner at the end of every quarter, and sometimes more!

The Setup

Commissioners create a pool and edit the settings to their liking. Next, the commissioner can start inviting players.   A 10x10 grid is laid out for the players. Via the Make Picks page; players select squares prior to having any knowledge which numbers each square corresponds to.  When ready the commissioner can generate the numbers for their squares grid. Once you have your numbers, just watch and root for the score to land on your numbers! Payment must be received prior to generating numbers.

Tournament Squares

The Game

Tournament Squares is similar to football squares in that the winner is based on the score of a game corresponding to the numbers of your square. The fun part about tournament squares is that your square is in play for every game of the tournament. That’s right!  You have 63 chances to win (give-or-take depending on settings of your pool).

The Setup

The commissioner will start by selecting basic settings for the pool and then inputting values in the POINTS TABLE.  Typically the points awarded per win will increase as you get deeper into the tournament. One simple way to develop a points table is to approximately double the points per win for each round, as the number of games played each round decreases by half. Minor adjustments will be made by the commissioner to finalize the points table. (Update: Now available are options to award points for Play-In games and Halftimes of the Semi-Final and Final games.)

The grid is labeled Winning Team horizontally and Losing Team vertically.  Players will be invited to start selecting squares within the grid.  When the grid is filled with entries the commissioner will generate numbers for the grid that correspond to each square.  If the final score of a game matches the square you have then you win the points for a game in that round based on the  POINTS TABLE for your pool.  For example, if you have square 8,1(Winner Score, Loser Score) and the final score of the first game is 68-61 you are a winner.  You will be awarded the points for the 1st Round as set by the commissioner.  The points table is available on the POOL RULES page.  Game scores and Pool Standings will be listed and updated as results come in.

Schwindy Points Pools

The Game

This game was created by our friend David Schwind, we have had a lot of fun playing this format so we wanted to bring it to the public and spread the word on this exciting pool type.

The goal of the Schwindy Points PoolTM is to accumulate more points than your opponents over the course of the pro football season.  Points are awarded equal to the number of points a player’s selected teams score in the corresponding period.  For example, if a player selects Atlanta and Arizona in week one of the season they are awarded the number of points that each team scores in week one.  As with many survivor pools, in a standard Schwindy pool every team is used exactly one time throughout the season - this makes the strategy of when to use each team very important.

The Setup

Commissioners create a pool and edit the settings to their liking. (The Schwindy Points Pool can be modified to start and end in any week, simply distribute the picks accordingly.)  Next, the commissioner can start inviting players.  Via the Make Picks page players can select the teams they wish to use for each week.  Prior to the second week of each pool everything will temporarily lock until the commissioner makes payment for the pool hosting fee.  Use the first day or 2 after week one to remove any rosters that you do not want in your pool. It is recommended to balance required user picks each week, but allowing “sandbagging” can be a fun strategy game to employ as well.  Enhance your pool by adding weekly winners!  Be sure to use the “i” button at the top right when setting up a Schwindy Points Pool.  Valuable help tips on how to use each page are provided here.

Pool Rates

  • Squares:  The fee for generic or single game football and basketball square boards is $8; the fee for March Tournament Boards is $12(standings provided throughout).  Payment must be made prior to generating numbers.
  • Schwindy Points Pool: $3 per player; $15 minimum.

Payment information must be put into the system for each pool; it will not be saved at this time.  If your payment information is not provided your pool will be placed in a “locked” state prior to week 2 and no viewing or edits can be made until payment is received.  Use the time prior to week 2 to remove any rosters that you do not wish to have participating as you will be charged for them.

It is encouraged to prepay for all pools to avoid any delays with payment processing.  You will not be charged until the “lock” state for each pool. However there will be a $10 initial charge for golf at the start of round 1.  You can simply not enter payment information; your pool will remain in a locked state until a payment is made.

CANCELLATIONS

If you have already submitted a payment but wish to cancel a pool:

Squares:  Cancellations and refunds can be accepted until numbers are generated.  Once numbers are generated all payments are final.

Schwindy: You can cancel a payment prior to the 2nd week for a full refund. Once the second week has started (Thursday night game) this cannot be reversed and you will be charged per active player in the pool as of Thursday at 12:01AM Eastern

Golf:  The initial $10 payment can be refunded prior to the start of Round 1 play. Due to the format of the golf pools we cannot accept cancellations once play begins and player picking information is posted in your pool.  Please use the time between Round 1 and round 2 to clean up the pool roster as you will be billed for all active players.

REFUNDS

Refunds will only be considered for instances of site malfunction or failure.  All payments received for pools that have started will not be refunded. Be sure to take advantage of the “i” buttons on each page for additional help tips and information on how to use each page.  Please do not hesitate to contact us for help at info@PremierSportsPools.com.
